The centre’s school holiday program – Future Freak Out – encourages kids to think about what the future holds for technology and inventions.
Discovery’s science communicator Alissa Van Soest said she hopes kids will enjoy figuring out what the future might be.
“I am a massive fan of science-fiction and love using all that imagination and little bits of science to project what might be possible in the future,” she said.
“We also want that the parents get a kick out of seeing the technology they saw as new and whizbang when they were kids.
“There were ideas about wearable tehcnology, which were massive belts or vests that had cameras and laptops attached to them. They were large and bulky things that are on your phone.”
Discovery’s Future Freak Out is $15 for adults and $11 for children. It runs at noon and 2pm each day during the school holidays.
