But their one-off comedy show Headroom is the first time the pair have worked only with each other.
“It is also the first time we have created a show from scratch,” Shaw said.
“We had been talking about it for a few years while doing shows together.”
Bodin said the process of picking what sort of show to put on was a process.
Headroom is a physical comedy show that is inspired by silent-era funnymen Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin.
“It started as discussion about the stuff we believe in and finding something we are happy with. Physical comedy kind of comes naturally to us,” Bodin said.
“There is no actual language but we use a lot of (distinctive) noises to communicate.
The characters Bodin and Shaw take on are intensified versions of themselves.
“Before I was performing, I was quite clumsy by nature. The side of me that is clumsy and gets himself into trouble because he is passionate is the character that I play in this,” Bodin said.
Shaw said he also wanted to bring an energy that showed his love for Keaton and Chaplin.
“They are engrossing to watch and I love bringing that to shows,” he said.
“My character has anxious qualities to him and I have a lot that in me. This opportunity to bring that all out.”
Headroom is on Saturday, July 1, at The Engine Room. Visit www.thecapital.com.au/Whats_On for tickets.
