EARLIER: A Swan Hill family awoke to the sounds of the smoke alarm this morning, with a fire starting in the loungeroom.
Residents of the Holloway Grove house self-evacuated about 2.45am and fire crews were called.
The house was well alight by the time firefighters arrived and it took three crews from Swan Hill 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
A spokesperson for the Country Fire Authority said it was a mother and three children at home at the time of the fire.
She said some of the family members were treated by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation at the scene.
Police also attended for traffic management and Sergeant Robin McDonald said the fire was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Fire investigators will continue to probe the cause of the fire today.
