A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers pursued the man from Elmore to Wallan, where he was arrested as part of an investigation into an alleged assault in Melbourne’s north on Monday.
The 43-year-old Campbellfield man was intercepted by police on the Northern Highway just after 11.25am on Tuesday.
“Police had been following the man from Elmore, however a pursuit was not initiated,” she said.
“He will now be interviewed in relation to an incident which occurred on Freight Drive, Somerton about 3.30pm on Monday.”
The spokeswoman said another 45-year-old man sustained non-life threatening head injuries during the incident and was subsequently taken to hospital.
