A LONG Gully man will be issued an infringement notice after a single-vehicle crash before 9am on Monday.
The P-plater, 35, was attempting a right-hand turn from Booth Street onto the Calder Highway, but noticed too late there was a car coming.
He accelerated but due to the road being dewy, the car overcorrected and ended up crashing into a small tree.
The driver also had sunlight in his eyes.
Leading Senior Constable Todd Deary said it was a hard intersection at that time of morning.
“When you’ve got a car covered in dew and the sun is still fairly low, it’s hard to see,’’ he said.
“You’ve just got to make sure you’re right to go.’’
The man escaped the crash uninjured.
