The Thunder were in the rare position of trailing early when the Spurs led by nine points at quarter-time.
However, Bendigo had the better of the last three quarters, kicking five goals to one to finish 6.6 (42) to 3.4 (22) victors at the QEO.
“VU Western Spurs played physical football and were well structured, which was what we were anticipating,” Thunder coach Cherie O’Neill said.
“I thought our backline was really good today with their accountability and our on-ballers worked hard all game.”
Among the standouts in the midfield brigade for the Thunder were captain Leah French, Grace Campbell, Ruby Campbell and Tiahna Cochrane, who continued her outstanding season.
Jac Louttit was also superb in the ruck.
Key forward Andrea Walsh with two was the Thunder’s only multiple goalkicker as she took her season tally to 36.
The Thunder return to the QEO again next Sunday to take on La Trobe University from 2pm.
