The Cannons had gone into Sunday’s match at RAMS Arena on the bottom of the ladder, but kicked six of the last nine goals of the game to win 13.16 (94) to 11.12 (78).
The Pioneers’ 11 goals were kicked by 11 players, while the best were led by Matthew Harvey, Darby Henderson, Angus Schumacher and Bailey Henderson.
“We probably had the better of the second half, but they were able to hit the scoreboard and transition the ball a lot better than us,” Pioneers coach Rick Coburn said.
