And the 16-year-old is determined to ensure he gives nothing less than 100 per cent during the championships, which will be held in Nottwil, Switzerland, from August 3 to 6.
“It’s really exciting to have the opportunity to wear the green and gold,” Richardson said this week.
“It’s going to be a fantastic experience, regardless of whether I get a medal or not.
“I don’t want to leave anything on the track… I want to come away knowing I’ve given it my absolute best.”
Sprinter Richardson has qualified to compete in the T35 100m and 200m events.
Richardson – who is a member of Bendigo YMCA Harriers – took up athletics in Grade Six.

“I went to a para soccer clinic in Melbourne and from there, I found out about a lot of other para sports, which includes athletics and it has evolved from there,” Richardson said.
Richardson, in Year 11 at Girton Grammar, is a multiple Victorian representative who has his sights set on competing at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
Coaching influences on his career have included Nick Wall, Brett Gilligan and Peter Barrett.
