GLENDA Serpell sees the demand for nursery equipment in Bendigo.
Agencies refer parents in need of cots, car restraints, bedding, prams, high chairs, bassinets, change tables, toys and clothing suitable for babies up to a year of age her way, for assistance from Sunshine Bendigo.
The charitable organisation provides donated items to families, free of charge.
“I really want to keep the supply up because I hate having to say ‘no’ to someone,” Mrs Serpell said.
She appealed for people with “baby gear” they no longer needed to help Sunshine Bendigo re-home it.
A winter donation drive has been organised for July 1 at the Uniting Church Hall at Daly Street in Long Gully.
People can drop off their goods from 10am – 2pm on the day, or call Sunshine Bendigo on 0448 356 714 to arrange to have them picked up.
“It’s not about getting rid of your junk, it’s about gifting to someone else,” Mrs Serpell said.
“We want to encourage the community to re-think before they throw away perfectly good baby gear.
“Consider the families that could be helped by these simple, but generous, donations”.
