Galvin, who resigned on Tuesday night, was in his second season as coach of the Creekers.
“Mick came to the decision that he couldn’t get any more out of the group and that as such, it was pointless that he continue as coach,” Campbells Creek president Dave Gordois said on Wednesday.
“We have a young group and the leadership group is wanting a bit more positive feedback on what they can do to improve. Mick thought it best for both parties that he lets someone else take over.
“There’s a lot of pressure on coaches these days and we understand that if you’re not enjoying what you’re doing or that it’s not going to get any better...”
With Galvin no longer at the helm, Gordois said captain Chris Klimeck would take on the role of playing coach for the Creekers
Galvin’s resignation comes ahead of a major weekend for Campbells Creek.
On Saturday the Creekers will take on Maldon for the inaugural Peter Cole Cup, which will be followed on Sunday be the club’s Up The Creek 2 MND fundraiser from 11am.
The Creekers sit in 12th position on the MCDFL ladder with a 1-6 record approaching the halfway mark of the season.
