An elderly motorist was driving a white station wagon north on Sandhurst Road about 6.15pm when he ran into a ute parked near the corner of Nelson Street.
The ute, which was unattended, was pushed about 15 metres along the road before coming to rest on a nearby nature strip.
Ambulance officers provided medical assistance to the man at the scene before transporting him to Bendigo hospital.
The man’s dog, which was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of the crash, appeared uninjured.
Police said they believed the man a “medical episode” while driving.
Witnesses said they spotted the car being driven erratically before the impact.
