Ballarat too good for BJFL

Ballarat dominated the Bendigo Junior Football League in the annual junior football Goldfields Challenge in Ballarat on the weekend.

Ballarat won six of the seven matches, with Bendigo’s only victory coming in the under-15 clash.

The Bendigo under-15s led at every change before holding off Ballarat by nine points, 11.6 (72) to 9.9 (63).

Jack Ginnivan kicked four goals for Bendigo, while Jack Hickman, Riley Bouwmeester and Noah Walsh, Ginnivan, Sam Conforti and Hamish Wild were Bendigo’s best players.

Ballarat’s 101-point thumping of Bendigo in the under-16.5 match led the home side to a 230-point aggregate victory across the day.

The two youth girls matches were dominated by AFL Goldfields, with Bendigo Youth Girls kicking a combined score of 1.4 across the under-15 and under-18 games.
