A DOUBLE to Tara Thomas has helped fire Epsom to a 3-0 win over Colts United in BASL women's championship action on the weekend.

The Scorpions were able to maintain their three point lead at the top of the ladder with a hard-working victory over a gallant United.

Thomas' double pushed the star Scorpion to the top of the league goal scorers' table with 21 for the season.

Elizabeth Watkins added her 13th goal of the season to ensure Epsom’s eighth victory from nine games.

With the Scorpions having a bye next round, Shepparton United has the opportunity to draw level with the ladder leaders with a win over Spring Gully.

United warmed up for that contest with an 8-0 victory over Golden City.

Sophie Papalia and Olivia Cornall each scored twice for United, which now has seven wins for the season.

Ellie Vlaeminck's ninth goal of the season and one from Lucy Teale - both in the first half - delivered Strathdale a 2-nil win over Shepparton South.

The Blues climbed to within three points of third-placed Colts United with their fourth win of the season.

Moama-Echuca Border Raiders notched their second win in a row with an 8-nil triumph over Swan Hill.

Courtney Ladgrove and Natalie Sands both scored twice, with Ladgrove's first coming in the opening minute.
