In what coach Rob Bennett labelled his side’s best team performance of the season, the Bulldogs demolished Heathcote by 225 points, winning 37.31 (253) to 4.4 (28) at North Bendigo.
The Bulldogs’ 37 goals featured 25 between their three power forwards Rhys Ford (nine), Sam Barnes (eight) and Brady Herdman (eight), with the massive win – the Bulldogs’ biggest in their 375 games since joining the HDFNL in 1996 – boosting their percentage to 403.0.
“Having Barnesy back in the side today, he’s so good with his communication and the way he is able to structure everyone up,” Bennett said.
“When he’s in our forward 50 he makes sure our forwards all work really hard and we saw that today.”
As well as the 25 goals between Ford, Barnes and Herdman, the undefeated Bulldogs also had 10 other players hit the scoreboard.
North Bendigo, which had a staggering 100 inside 50s for the game, slammed on 10 goals in the first quarter, 10 in the second, nine in the third and eight in the last as it took its domination of the competition to another level
