Powercor has been contacted for comment about the outage’s cause.
Traffic lights are out and thousands of homes are without power in Bendigo this afternoon.
More than 3000 customers across the city are without electricity, according to provider Powercor’s website.
White Hills, North Bendigo, Ascot and Epsom are the worst affected areas.
Lights on the corner of Napier Street and Lyons Street in White Hills have gone to black but police are not yet at the scene.
A Powercor spokeswoman said it could be 6pm before electricity was returned.
The cause was still unknown at this stage, she said.
Some residents are saying they heard a loud sound in North Bendigo before power went out.
The outage comes at a crucial time for some music fans.
More to come.
