Six Rural Bank Bendigo Pioneers players will take to the field in Sunday’s opening round of the AFL National Under-18 championships.
Five players – Jye Caldwell, Kane Farrell, Lochie O’Brien, Paddy Dow and Brent Daniels – have made Victoria Country’s final team of 23, while Jarrod Brander will play against his Pioneers’ team-mates for the Allies.
O’Brien, from Mildura, is touted as a potential top 10 draft pick and has been named on the wing for Sunday’s game.
Dow (Swan Hill) and Daniels (Nyah) have been named in the forward line, while Caldwell (Golden Square) and Farrell (Castlemaine) are on the interchange bench.
Brander, who is expected to be picked in the top three of this year’s AFL national draft, has been selected at centre half-back for the Allies.
Sunday’s game at Bankstown in Sydney starts at 12.30pm.
