The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning for cold temperatures, rain and southwesterly winds that will affect much of the state, including the Northern Country, North Central and Central forecast districts.
There is a risk sheep and lambs exposed to these conditions will die.
Snow is forecast in the Central forecast district above 900 metres, making it a possibility for Mount Macedon.
Bendigo can expect a low of 6 degrees and a top of 13, with a medium chance of showers in the morning.
Similar conditions are forecast across the rest of the region, with Maryborough also forecast to reach 13 degrees, Castlemaine expecting a top of 12, and Kyneton in for a cool maximum of 10 degrees.
The weather is expected to clear by Wednesday, bringing with it the possibility of a light early frost.
