Sedgewick Road and Storys Road in Sedgwick will have wire rope barriers installed, along with kerbs and edge lines.
The intersection of Somerville and Ellis Streets in Flora Hill will get fully-controlled right turns onto Ellis Street on existing traffic signals.
This requires lengthening the right turn lane into Ellis Street and shortening the right turn lane into Hallam Street.
Elsewhere, Campaspe Shire Council was funded $302,000 to install splitter islands and bellmouths, among others, at Lockington Diggora, Dingee, Black Culvert and Settlement roads.
“Any funding received for works on our road network is welcomed, and this particularly so, as it addresses a section of road that has seen one fatality and four crashes in a five year period,” said Campaspe mayor Adrian Weston.
The funding is part of a $13.6 million investment in Victoria’s roads by the federal government and will improve fifty sections of dangerous roads.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Roads, Darren Chester, said the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics found that, on average, ‘black spot’ projects reduce fatal and injury crashes by 30 per cent.
Works must be completed before June 30, 2018.
