Bendigo and Shepparton won three games each, but Bendigo’s aggregate score over the six matches was eight points higher than Shepparton’s.
Bendigo’s success was built around fine performances by the under-13 and under-12 squads.
The under-13s were dominant as they raced to a 76-point victory. Bendigo had nine individual goal kickers in the 13.8 (86) to 1.4 (10) victory. Ben Cameron, Blake McGregor, Bailey Morton were best for Bendigo.
The under-12s were just as impressive as they scored a 9.8 (62) to 3.4 (22) win. Zackery Tickell, Tommi Turner and Harrison Kelly stood out for the winners.
Bendigo’s other winning team was the under-16 squad. In a low-scoring slog, Bendigo outlasted Shepparton 6.7 (43) to 4.7 (31). Max Johnson, Mitchell Wakefield and William Tobin were Bendigo’s best players.
Mason Wakefield, Jack Merrin and Darcy Radford were best for Bendigo’s under-15 team, while Ricky Monti, Kaidan Fuge and Dominic Bennington were the under-14s best trio.
Megan Williamson, Eden Zanker and Jordyn Jolliffe played well for Bendigo’s under-18 girls team, which went down by six points.
