BENDIGO'S Caitlin Thwaites has ended the Super Netball regular season as the league's leading scorer.
Thwaites scored 39 goals in the Magpies' hard-fought 49-47 victory over the Thunderbirds in Adelaide on Sunday.
That haul was enough to secure her the scoring title by five goals over Sunshine Coast Lightning star Caitlin Bassett.
The Australian Diamonds shoooter proved influential down the stretch after the Magpies surrendered the lead in a see-sawing final quarter.
But with Thwaites getting on a roll, the Magpies finished with a 7-3 run in the final minutes to snatch victory.
The Magpies head into next week's crunch semi-final against fellow expansion team the Giants having won six of their last seven games.
Meanwhile, fellow Bendigonian Chloe Watson's Melbourne Vixens claimed the inaugural Super Netball minor premiership with a convincing 68-42 win over West Coast Fever at Perth Arena on Saturday.
With the Lightning beating the Giants earlier in the day, the Vixens needed a win to guarantee top spot ahead of the finals.
The Vixens set up their win with an initial 6-1 run and were never headed on their way to a 26 goal win.
The win ensures a major semi-final clash against the Lightning this Saturday in Melbourne.
Vixens coach Simone McKinnis was delighted to have secured top spot and finish the game in such dominant fashion.
"I arrived at the game and realised that what happened in that (Lightning v Giants) game wasn't relevant," McKinnis said.
"We just had to win this game so that's what we were thinking about.
"I was happy with a lot about that and we finished really strongly.
"Eventually it opened up for us so I certainly liked the way we finished."
