A father of two has described the terrifying moment a taxi ploughed through his house and into a bedroom where he and his wife were sleeping in Melbourne's south-east.

Ica and Gabriel Magda were sleeping inside their Pakenham home when an exhausted driver veered off Shearwater Drive and crashed into their bedroom about 5am on Sunday.
Bricks and glass flew across the room, hitting Ms Magda who was sleeping just centimetres away from the smashed taxi.
"We just heard this loud bang, like a massive explosion," Mr Magda said.
"I jumped out of bed straight away and the taxi was still moving towards us.... the walls were all smashed in."
"My first concern was that my wife was hurt, but I saw she was standing beside me and I was just so happy that she was ok. We just stood there shaking. It felt like a dream."
Mr Madga said the driver of the taxi had told him he had just finished a 12 hour shift and had fallen asleep behind the wheel.
"He (the driver) seemed like a nice guy, he'd just done too many hours and he was exhausted," Mr Magda said.
"He was very shaken up."
Mr Madga said the family of four would be sleeping in the same bedroom while they waited for the house to be repaired.
The house sustained extensive damage and makeshift repairs including a black tarpaulin had been installed to protect the bedroom from rain.
Mr Madga said he hoped the incident would be a lesson to the driver.
"It was certainty a very close call and I hope he has learnt from it," he said.
"But at the same time although our house has been really badly damaged, at least my family isn't suffering health-wise... material things you can always replace."
The taxi driver, a man in his 20s, did not have any passengers in the car at the time.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Natalie Webster said the driver did not suffer any injuries and was assisting police with their inquiries.
"The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing," Ms Webster said.
Police said the investigation was ongoing and factors such as alcohol, drugs and speed were being examined.
