After restricting the Roos to two goals with the wind in the first quarter, the Tigers blew the game open in the second term, kicking 10.4 to 1.0 to lead by 62 points at the main break.
The Roos were more competitive in the second half, but the damage had already been done as the Tigers cruised to a 22.17 (149) to 12.7 (79) victory.
“I thought our first quarter was just as impressive as our second quarter,’’ Kyneton coach Luke Beattie said.
“Against a three or four-goal breeze we held the Flat to two goals and, had we kicked straighter, we could have kicked five or six ourselves.
“The first and second quarters were very impressive performances from the boys.”
Young ruckman Jordan Mangan was superb for the Tigers, while some of the home side’s top shelf players – Josh Govan, Rhys Magin, Max O’Sullivan and Ethan Foreman – led from the front.
Ben Weightman and Daniel Davie kicked four goals each for Kyneton.
“One of the most pleasing things was that we got contributions across the board,’’ Beattie said.
The Roos struggled to match the Tigers for midfield grunt, particularly in the first half. Ross Turner, Jonathan Lanyon and Liam Collins were named Kangaroo Flat’s best players.
The third-placed Tigers (4-1-1) play Eaglehawk next week, while the Roos (2-4) play top side Strathfieldsaye.
