Police have charged a 17-year-old boy from Wyndham Vale, the alleged driver of the car, with a range of offences.
Charges included theft, learner driver without accompanying driver, dangerous driving whilst being pursued, evade police, reckless conduct endangering life, driving in a manner dangerous, driving at a speed dangerous, affixing false plates and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
The boy was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
Three of the other four people who were arrested have since been exonerated, including a 19-year-old Maryborough man, the other Wyndham Vale teen, and an 18-year-old Geelong woman.
A 17-year-old girl from Hoppers Crossing has been released pending enquiries.
EARLIER: Five people have been arrested, including a Maryborough man, after a vehicle hit a police car in suburban Melbourne.
Police attempted to intercept after spotting an allegedly stolen Holden sedan on Heaths Road, in Hoppers Crossing, just after 3pm on Thursday.
“The car was stopped in Snipe Court in Werribee before it reversed at police members, hitting a police vehicle, and speeding off,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
Police fired a single shot during the incident.
No-one was injured.
The allegedly stolen vehicle was found dumped on Rob Close a short time later.
Police arrested all five of the car’s occupants, including a 19-year-old man from Maryborough, a 17-year-old Wyndham Vale male, an 18-year-old Geelong woman, a 16-year-old girl from Wyndham Vale and a 17-year-old girl from Hoppers Crossing.
“As with all incidents when shots are fired by police, the investigation will be overseen by Professional Standards Command,” the statement said.
