Humphry enjoyed a standout 2016-17 season, earning selection in the Australian team to compete at the junior world men’s world championships in France.
Humphry was in the best performed Victorian crew at the national team sprint titles and earned selection in the Australian national junior talent squad.
Another highlight for Humphry was his victory in the 10km Goulburn Classic.
As athlete of the year, Humrphy was presented with the Gary Tierney Memorial Scholarship by BAS board chair Margaret Keech, VIS athlete and Rio Paralympian Amanda Reynolds and John McGrath, a long-time friend of Gary Tierney.
Maddie Batters was awarded the BAS coach of the year.
Batters, one of Australia’s premier canoeing athletes, has been assistant coach of the BAS canoeing program for the past two years.
The Frank Roberts Outstanding Service Award was presented to clay target shooting stalwart Glenn Woodhatch.

Volleyball – athlete of the year: Lauren Cox and Liam Clegg. Coaches encouragement: Holly Eason and Matt Poulter.
Individual athlete of the year: Zahra Hayes. Coaches encouragement: Ben Cosgriff.
