The small company is producing dark comedy It’s My Party and I’ll Die If I Want To at the Engine Room in View Street from June 1 to 3.
Director Wendy Collishaw said the show has the vibe of The Castle combined with Fawlty Towers.
“It is one of the funniest plays Bendigo will have seen for long time. It’s set in the 1990s so some of the some issues are dated but the way they are handled along with the twist is great,” she said.
“This is a great tableaux piece that has themes that everyone can relate to. It is like watching Fawlty Towers where you know it’s funny but you can’t help but cringe.”
The play was written by Elizabeth Coleman in 1993 and follows Ron Patterson who believes he has 111 minutes to live. He hosts a family party to try and tie up the loose ends in his life.
“It’s about family members that cant stand each other and the themes that come with that as the time ticks down,” Mrs Collishaw said.
“Ron has to try to fix being the most horrendous father in 111 minutes.”
Zeljko Vanis plays the role of party host Ron Patterson and is supported by Jason McMurray, Sharon Newth, Glenys Tatti, Stephanie Mann and Daniel Marks.
“Zeljko and Jason are very experienced actors. Together they are fantastic,” Mrs Collishaw said.
“There are also performers who have done a lot of small company shows and some youngsters who are stepping up into bigger roles.”
Synchronicity was founded by Mrs Collishaw and her husband Geoff in 2012.
“We’re not the biggest company but I think when people see the quality of the productions and how we care for cast and crews, we can we can continue to draw in more people,” Mrs Collishaw said.
