The Roos trailed by nine points at quarter time, but dominated the second and third terms to take a 13-point lead into the final term.
The Hawks threw everything at the Roos in the last quarter, but Kangaroo Flat held on 9.12 (66) to 9.7 (61). Leech, O’Keefe and Lockhart were best for the Roos, while Bulger, Hynes and Trewhella played well for the Borough.
Sandhurst rallied from a two-goal deficit at half-time to overrun Golden Square at Ewing Park.
Wayward kicking cost the Dragons percentage in the 11.17 (83) to 9.8 (62) victory.
Schepers, Barri and Harrison stood out for the winners, while Merrin, Burke and Berry battled hard for the Bulldogs.
Strathfieldsaye handed Sandhurst Marist Dockers a 79-point drubbing.
The Storm relished the open spaces of their home ground and kicked 16.10 (106) to the Dockers’ 4.3 (27).
Anderson bagged seven goals to be one of the Storm’s best alongside Wakefield and Power. Horan, Barry and Wood were the Dockers’ best players.
Strathfieldsaye also made a strong start to the under-14 senior regular season.
The Storm proved too strong for a gallant Eaglehawk side, 8.6 (54) to 4.5 (29).
Lyon kicked four of Storm’s eight goals and was in their best players with Moule and Bell. Hanley, Fry and Gorrie were best for the Hawks.
In the other under-14 senior game, Sandhurst wore down Golden Square to win by 35 points at Ewing Park.
The Dragons only led by one point at half-time, before adding 7.5 to 2.1 after the main break to win 12.8 (80) to 7.3 (45).
A seven-goal first term set up St Francis’ impressive 14.9 (93) to 6.4 (40) win over Quarry Hill in under-12A action.
Young, Grieve and Hamilton played well for St Francis. Banfield, Carter and Cheesman were best for Quarry Hill.
Strathfieldsaye scored a 27-point win over Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.
The Storm won 9.5 (59) to 5.2 (32), with Morrison, Grundy and Anderson in good form. Vroom, Blandthorn and Wescott stood out for the Eagles.
St Therese’s cleared out after half-time to defeat Eaglehawk 6.6 (42) to 1.2 (8). McCullough, Hood, Rainey were St Therese’s best players. Daykin, Hanley and Uerata played well for the Borough.
Kyneton looked good in its 5.8 (38) to 2.2 (14) win over Castlemaine. Morris, Young and Thompson were superb for the Tigers, while the Magpies’ three best players were Turner, Mellick-Cooper and Martin.
Meanwhile, South Bendigo under-12B player Tyson Hogan played his 50th game of junior footy on the weekend.
In the under-18 girls competition, Kangaroo Flat and Woorinen remain unbeaten after scoring massive wins over North Bendigo and Eaglehawk respectively.
Knoll and McNair kicked 21 goals between them in the Roos’ 189-point win over North.
South Bendigo defeated Golden Square by 17 points. Kopp, Simpkins and Douglass starred for the Bloods. Tranter and Pianta stood out for Square.
In the final game of the round, Castlemaine defeated Strathfieldsaye 8.5 (53) to 3.4 (22).
