Shepparton United looked set to record its sixth win from seven games when it led Tatura 2-1 with two minutes remaining.
However, Tristan Zito’s second goal of the game in the 89th minute levelled the scores for Tatura.
Things went from bad to worse for Shepparton United, with Mohammed Al Hilfi and Roven Shaholli shown red cards in the 90th minute. The star duo now face suspensions.
Eaglehawk scored its third-straight win when it defeated Colts United 3-0.
French import Andre Latt made an instant impact with the Hawks when he scored in the second minute of his debut match.
Coach Greg Thomas continued his stunning run of scoring in every match this season, while English recruit Jan Kerr added the Hawks’ third goal.
Epsom moved ahead of Strathdale into third place on goal difference. The Scorpions made the long trip to Deniliquin and returned with a 16-0 win over Moama-Echuca Border Raiders.
The huge win lifted the Scorpions to within five points of Shepparton United and boosted their goal difference to plus 23 – second only to Eaglehawk.
For Epsom, teenager Cooper Arkinstall scored four goals against his old team, star wingman Josh Claney also found the back of the net four times, Alexander Caldow added a hat-trick and Josh Dwyer a brace.
A last minute goal from Daniel Maierhofler gave Strathdale a 2-1 win over Shepparton.
The Blues took an early lead through Lukas Blom before Yonas Niyigalula tied things up for Shepparton midway through the second half.
Maierhofler’s last minute heroics enabled the Blues to clinch the three points and lifted them to fourth spot on the ladder, five points behind Shepparton United.
In the final match of the round, Shepparton South handed a disappointing Golden City an 8-1 drubbing.
City’s Zac Gilmour opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the game, but from that point on it was one-way traffic.
Shepparton South stars Joel Aitken and Jesse Brun scored seven goals between them and Alpha Sherrif completed the rout.
The highlight of round eight action next Sunday is the clash between Epsom and Strathdale at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve.
Shepparton United tackles Shepparton South, Eaglehawk is away to Shepparton, Colts United hosts Spring Gully and Tatura is away to Moama-Echuca.
