Bendigo divers picked to represent Victoria

TWO Bendigo divers will represent Victoria at the Pacific School Games later this year.

Abby Rowley and Kiara Field won selection in the team after strong performances at the School Sport Victoria diving trials on Sunday.

Their Bendigo Divers coach Heather Tyter said it was a long day for the girls with the competition starting at 7am, but both girls dived extremely well.

"Abby won her one-metre and three-metre events and came fourth in her platform event," she said.

"Kiara won her one-metre and three-metre events and was second in her platform event.

"The platform events are combined ages so both girls were among the youngest in their events, so it was really a great effort."

The Pacific School Games will be staged in Adelaide in December.

Rowley has been in the team for several years, but Field's selection is her first as she has previously been too young.

Tyter said both divers would now travel to Melbourne once a week to train, as well as practice twice a week at the Bendigo Divers dryland facility in Mundy Street.

She said both girls were more than up to the task of representing Victoria well.
