The national appeal is already underway, but the major event of the fundraising drive will take place on the last weekend of this month.
Hundreds of volunteers will take to the streets of Bendigo on May 27 and 28, door-knocking and tin-rattling to collect donations that will support the Salvos’ community service programs.
“Locally, a lot of the work we do is in the area of helping families in crisis,” Bendigo Major Andrew Walker said.
It is estimated up to 100 local families seek help through support program Doorways each week.
The organisation also provides other support services, including drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.
The Salvos invite volunteers to assist with their door-knocking efforts in Bendigo.
