THE Eurovision dream remains alive for Echuca-Moama teen Isaiah Firebrace after he qualified this morning for the song contest's grand finale.
His rendition of pop ballad Don't Come Easy won over professional juries and at-home voters to join nine other acts also through to the deciding show on Sunday morning, Australian time.
Third in the running order, the 17-year-old Australian seemed unfazed when he performed in front of the 11,000 strong crowd inside Kyiv's International Exhibition Centre.
Speaking immediately after his announcement, he described how it felt to follow in the footsteps of former Australian contestants Dami Im and Guy Sebastian, both of which made the final of the six-decade-old competition.
"This has been a massive dream of mine," Isaiah said.
"I never thought I'd experience this at just 17 years of age.
"Thanks so much to everyone who voted for me."
He also said his progression into the next round sent a message to all people with a dream, including his indigenous peers.
"No matter where you're from, no matter what you've been through, you can work hard and follow your dream - and it can come true," Isaiah said.
It was a nervous wait for the young singer, who rose to fame after taking home the X Factor crown in 2016.
Seven other finalists were read out before the Ukrainian hosts announced Australia would progress.
He will be joined by other qualifiers Belgium, Armenia, Portugal, Sweden, Greece, Moldova, Cyprus, Poland and Azerbaijan.
Another 18 acts will have their chance at a finals berth on Thursday night, Ukrainian time.
Among them is another Australian singing show victor, Danish contender Anja Nissen.
The Eurovision Song Contest airs on SBS from May 12 to 14.
