From January 1 to March 31, the average response time across the City of Greater Bendigo was 13 minutes and four seconds, 38 seconds faster than the same quarter last year, and a 19-second improvement on last quarter.
But the average response time in Victoria was one minute and one second faster.
The proportion of cases responded to in under 15 minutes has also improved, from 74 per cent in the first quarter of 2016 to 75.2 per cent this year.
Across the state, 80 per cent of cases were seen in fewer than 15 minutes.
The City of Greater Bendigo is the best-performing local government area in central Victoria.
Loddon Shire had the worst average response time at 22 minutes and 50 seconds.
Fewer than 33 per cent of cases were responded to within 15 minutes.
These figures were an improvement on last quarter, but had fallen from the same time last year.
Within the urban area of Bendigo, the response times for the most urgent cases has also improved.
In the most recent quarter more than 81 per cent of cases were seen within 15 minutes, with an average response time of 12 minutes and five seconds.
These figures represented an improvement on both last quarter and the same quarter in 2016, although the number of cases also fell.
The state government says 80 per cent of these ‘code one’ cases were responded to within 15 minutes, for the first time in seven years.
