Scores had been level 2.5 apiece at three quarter-time on Sunday at Melbourne University Main Oval, before the Thunder added 3.4 to 0.1 in the final term to notch a 5.9 (39) to 2.6 (18) victory.
“It was a tough game and really pleasing to see the way the girls stood up in the last quarter and took it to the next level,” Thunder coach Cherie O’Neill said.
Kerryn Harrington was the Thunder’s best player.
