Coghlan kicked all nine of the Saints’ goals in their 24.22 (166) to 9.4 (58) defeat to the flag favourite Demons.
The Demons’ 108-point win continued their blistering start to the season and they are now the only unbeaten team.
George Turner (three goals) and ruckman Chris Howgate (three goals) were their best, while Coghlan was the clear standout for the winless Saints.
• Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers held off Birchip-Watchem to win by five points at home.
The Bulls kicked the only three goals of the final term, but were unable to overhaul a 19-point deficit at three quarter-time as the Tigers won 13.10 (88) to 13.5 (83).
The result leaves both teams among a cluster of four with a 2-1 record.
• Donald inflicted reigning premier Charlton’s third-consecutive defeat to start the season.
The Royals raced to a 29-point lead at quarter-time on the way to a 14.11 (95) to 9.12 (66) victory, which featured a six-goal haul from the classy Seamus Young.
• Boort kicked seven of the last nine goals of its game to run over the top of Wedderburn.
The Redbacks led by nine points 21 minutes into the third term, but the Magpies, who made more of their chances inside 50, finished the stronger to win 14.7 (91) to 10.12 (72).
