The sharp shooter missed most of last season after undergoing a knee reconstruction and the Storm were prepared for the left-footer to have a delayed start to the year.
There was also a strong school of thought that it would take until mid-season for Sharp to get anywhere near his best form.
On Saturday, Sharp bagged 10 goals to lead the Storm to a commanding 17.7 (109) to 7.10 (52) win over Eaglehawk.
The performance was a reminder of Sharp’s class and a testament to his recuperative powers. He’s kicked 18 goals in the Storm’s three games this year.
“He’s a class act,’’ Storm coach Darryl Wilson said of Sharp.
“He turned the Eaglehawk defence inside out at times. He probably only played 70-80 per cent of game time as well today. We’re still nursing him back.”
After losing to Golden Square in round two, the Storm responded strongly against the Hawks.
“We put pressure on , ran the ball well and made life hard for Eaglehawk,’’ Wilson said.
“Our forward entries were much better than last week.”
Young midfielder Jake Moorhead was superb for the Storm and he had able sidekicks in Trent Donnan and Josh Formosa.
Tim Hill, coach Josh Bowe and Ben McPhee were best for the Borough.
