Country Fire Authority senior station officer Dale Stemmer said it was understood the man was working at the 24-hour facility when the incident happened shortly before 2am.
He said the man was able to alert his co-workers to his predicament and paramedics were called before requesting the assistance of the CFA’s rope technicians stationed at Bendigo.
“My understanding is there was a gentleman there that had taken a fall and ambos were with him and required a rope rescue crew to come in to assist basically hauling him out,” he said.
An ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the man was taken to Bendigo Health suffering back and leg pain.
A Bendigo Health spokeswoman said the man was still in hospital on Friday morning and was in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, firefighters also attended an explosion in Forest Street, Bendigo as a result of a power line arcing.
