A woman in her 40s was trapped in the vehicle for 30 minutes and has been taken to hospital with upper body injuries. She is said to be in a stable condition.
A man has also been taken to hospital with serious upper body injuries.
The third passenger is believed to be in a stable condition.
UPDATE 7.10pm: The passenger has been removed and is one of three people to be taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Acting Sergeant Dave Sanders said the crash occurred about 6.15pm.
The Holden sedan was believed to have been speeding while travelling towards Bendigo, when it hit the tree.
The Midland Highway is blocked to traffic in both directions.
EARLIER: Emergency services are responding to a motor vehicle crash on the Midland Highway in Huntly.
Services are working to free a woman from the vehicle.
The car careered off the road into a tree near Gungurru Road.
