UPDATE, 5pm: The 80-year-old driver was the only occupant of the car and is in a stable condition
Police have said the single-vehicle crash occured as the man was driving south on Axe Creek Road near the intersection of Patons Road.
The man was driving a four-wheel drive that was towing a golf cart on a trailer when he veered onto the right-hand side of the road. He then hit a tree and rolled the car.
Police said speed was not a factor in the crash but they are investigating the possibility of fatigue.
The man sustained minor injuries to his face result from the airbag deploying.
A CFA spokesman said SES and CFA were still on the scene.
UPDATE 4.30pm: An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said a man was still believed to be trapped in his vehicle.
EARLIER: Emergency services are responding to a crash on Axe Creek Road, Axe Creek.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman confirmed paramedics were called to the scene at about 3.40pm and at least one person is believed to be trapped.
