The battle between two teams destined for finals action this season was a see-sawing affair at the Toolleen Recreation Reserve.
But it was the Bombers who held their nerve to record a 39-37 win.
Both teams came into the match with similar form lines having been narrowly beaten in their last games by reigniong premiers Colbinabbin.
Expectations were a for a close tussle and that is how it eventuated.
The game was the Bombers' second this season after a bye in round two.
Meanwhile, last season's grand finalists Colbinabbin and White Hills both remain undefeated after three rounds.
The Demons survived a tough contest against Huntly to win 40-34 in a performance that will give the Hawks plenty to build on for the remainder of the season.
White Hills remains on top by virtue of its superior percentage.
Colbinabbin proved too strong for Elmore to win 71-20.
Lockington-Bamawm United has made its way to third place on the ladder with a 51-32 victory over winless Heathcote.
The Cats' record stands at 2-1, with a defeat against Mount Pleasant their sole loss.
In next week's games, Lockington-Bamwam United hosts Huntly, Colbinabbin is at home against Heathcote, Leitchville-Gunbower plays Elmore and North Bendigo returns to action at White Hills.
