Oakleigh’s ability to make the most of its chances was criticial in the 14.8 (92) to 8.10 (58) scoreline.
The Pioneers had two more scoring shots than the visitors in the first half, but the Chargers’ better coversion allowed it to open up an eight-point lead at the main break.
The Chargers started to take control of the game in the third quarter when they added 3.5 to 2.1.
The trend continued in the final term when they kicked five goals to two to race away to a 34-point win.
Big man Jobee Warde kicked two goals to be the Pioneers’ best player, while midfielder Kane Farrell won a lot of the ball.
Athletic forward Bailey Henderson, Lewin Davis, Matt Harvey and skipper Laine Fitzgerald also played well for the Pioneers.
