The Bombers have undergone a stop-start opening to the season, with a round two bye coming on the heels of a courageous three goal defeat to Colbinabbin.
Mount Pleasant was equally gallant last week against the reigning premiers, going down by seven goals to a Grasshoppers outfit strengthened by the inclusion of former Sandhurst goal shooter Annie Cobbledick.
Lake said the clash at Toolleen would give her players a good gauge of where they are at against a quality opponent.
"We're expecting a really tough match, we know that they have recruited quite well and we're expecting them to be a lot stronger than last year," she said.
"We'll give it our best shot and see how it goes.
"I don't mind getting these tough early games in, it's always good to see where you are at.
"Especially when everyone's on a level playing field and working at getting their combinations right."
Lake was uncertain whether a week off during Easter would benefit her side after a strong build-up to the season.
"I think the timing (being the second team to have the bye in round two) will do us favours down the track, when we halfway through the year and needing that break," she said.
Lake praised the efforts of young duo Tahli Brererton and Courtney West in the Bombers' narrow defeat to Colbinabbin.
New Blues coach Belinda Pinner has her side playing confident netball, pushing the reigning premiers all the way last week.
Playing at home should fill them with some extra confidence, with the chance to advance to 2-1 added motivation.
Meanwhile, Huntly got its season off to a winning start against North Bendigo last week, but will need to overcome a White Hills team oozing with confidence after two massive wins.
The Demons have beaten Elmore and Heathcote by a combined 90 goals.
In other games, Lockington-Bamawn United will look to advance to 2-1 at Heathcote, while top-of-the-ladder Colbinabbin visits Elmore.
