Ms Allan said the project would also create between 20 and 25 jobs during its construction.
“Construction will go along at a cracking pace over the rest of 2017 with the new school expected to be open and welcoming students at the start of the school year next year,” she said.
School council president Scott Jefferis said the upgrade had been “a long time coming”.
“It really gives us the best facilities for our kids to learn in,” he said. “We were pretty cramped, the facilities were old, we had leaking roofs, carpet was getting wet and they were all old portable buildings, which really weren’t suitable for the purpose anymore.”
