No one was injured in the crash, which involved a red Suzuki hatchback and a gold-coloured Holden Commodore.
Acting Sergeant Dave Sanders, of Bendigo Highway Patrol, said both cars were travelling on Reservoir Road in the direction of the McIvor Highway, when the driver of the Commodore attempted to perform a U-turn.
He said the probationary driver in the Suzuki, travelling behind, didn’t have enough time to stop.
“She was doing the right thing and tried to stop but it was too late,” Acting Sergeant Sanders said.
The 69-year-old female driver of the Commodore will be given a ticket for performing an unsafe U-turn, police said.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
