Not for the first time the speedy twins quinellaed their division of the Dragon Mile in Bendigo on Sunday.
Ned's win in the boys year 7-8 event was his second in three years in the annual Easter Sunday race after he won the boys grade 5-6 race in 2015.
As happened two years ago, only a few short metres separated the twins at the finishing line.
Ned, a student at Bendigo South East College, said the Dragon Mile was his favourite running event and he had enjoyed the tussle down the long Pall Mall straight with his twin.
"If Matt wasn't there I wouldn't have run this time," he said.
"It's good that we are really competitive as it pushes us and motivates us both to do better."
The brothers spend their Saturdays running for Bendigo Harriers and weekdays training under dual open Dragon Mile winner Andy Buchanan at their school as part of the Athlete Development Program.
“We love the ADP program, it really helps me improve my race times,” Ned said.
The 14-year old has vowed to return for next year's Dragon Mile, knowing Matt will be there to push him all the way again.
