Heavyside, who has made a full-time return to the Storm after spending the past two seasons with Essendon's VFL side, was injured early in Saturday's win over reigning premiers Sandhurst.
The former Bendigo Pioneer contributed one goal in the Storm's impressive opening quarter in which they outscored the Dragons 39-0.
Heavyside's injury was the only negative from the opening round for the Storm, who will regain Kallan Geary, Vinnie Flood and Jam Sheahan in the weeks ahead.
The Storm face Golden Square at MyJet Oval this Saturday, after the Bulldogs survived a close-call against Kangaroo Flat on Good Friday.
A positive for coach Darryl Wilson from Saturday's contest was the sparkling return from injury by Lachlan Sharp, who booted four goals.
"It's only 10 months since he had a reco, so it was a bit of a worry where he wa at," he said.
"He showed what class he has and probably could have kicked a couple more.
"Overall it was really pleasing. Sandhurst had a few out, so we know they are going to come back and come back hard."
Jayden Donaldson was the other shining light for the Storm up forward with three goals.
