MORE COVERAGE: Bendigo Easter 2017
STREET rods and vintage cars from across Australia are converging on the Prince of Wales Showgrounds for the Easter long weekend – and the public can check them out Saturday and Sunday.
The 23rd Australian Street Rod Federation Nationals are taking place in Bendigo, attracting hundreds of cars which are lining the main arena inside and out for the main event this weekend.
The hot rods are arriving throughout Friday.
Glenn Halliday drove his 1928 Ford Roadster from Adelaide to attend the event, after taking part in the Castlemaine swap meet last weekend.
He said the car drove like a dream on the 650 kilometre journey.
“It goes just the same as every other car on the road,” Mr Halliday said.
The cars caused a mini-traffic jam on Holmes Road as they entered the showgrounds on Friday morning.
Anne and Bill O’Connor brought their 1956 Ford F100 to Bendigo from Tasmania last week.
Mr O’Connor said it took six years to convert the shell of the vehicle into a roadworthy hot rod, complete with a modern engine.
The event is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entry is $20 for adults, $5 for children under 16, and children under 5 are free.
