ILLAWARRA Hawks coach Rob Beveridge believes Bendigo Braves centre Matt Andronicos is capable of reigniting his NBL career.
The 24-year-old spent a few seasons with the Cairns Taipans before his arrival in Bendigo last season and also spent part of the SEABL off-season training with the NBL club.
Beveridge got a good look at Andronicos during his four day stay in Bendigo last Thursday to Sunday, and also kept tabs on him while following the progress of his Hawks guard Kevin White during the Braves' championship season last year.
"(The NBL) is so tough in the sense you only have eight teams, and if there was nine teams or 10 teams Matt would have a roster spot," he said before last weekend’s double header.
"I think that he's so close now.
"He's had those years up in Cairns and he's someone a lot of NBL teams have on their radar - a big body, and he does a lot of simple things well.
"He's still young enough to make an NBL squad.
"He's worked hard and made a lot of sacrifices to play in Cairns and play in Bendigo and other different areas."
Andronicos is currently ranked equal eighth in the SEABL in rebounds with nine per game, up from five per game last season.
He is also averaging 10.5 points per game, above his 2016 average of nine.
