Chelsea, 14, has been selected in Australian Canoeing’s Under-15 Olympic Hopeful squad.
She’s one of only two under-15 females in the squad.
The Olympic Hopefuls squad was selected following the recent Sprint National Championships in which Chelsea won five gold medals, three silver and one bronze.
Chelsea’s three gold medals were won in the under-16 K4 200m, K4 500m and K4 1000m.
As part of her selection in the squad, Chelsea wiill head to the Czech Republic in mid-August for a training camp.
“I will definitely need to be taking training more seriously, but overall I am happy to be given the opportunity to do it,” Chelsea said.
Chelsea – in Year 9 at Bendigo South East College – is kept busy during the week with six sessions of training in her kayak, as well as additional cross training and gym work.
