Aaron Hester and his late wife Sianne co-founded the Live for Lily Foundation in honour of their daughter Lily, who died in August 2014.
The foundation hopes to find a cure for childhood cancer, so that no child or parent has to endure what they did.
In that spirit, the Bendigo-based friends are joining an eight-day, 1300 kilometre bicycle ride to raise awareness of childhood cancers.
“I couldn’t imagine going through what Aaron and Sianne had to go through, losing their daughter,” Matt said.
Organisers hope Ride for Lily will raise more than $100,000 for the Children’s Cancer Institute, to support vital research.
The ride starts at the Children’s Cancer Institute in Sydney on April 1 and ends at Princes Park in Carlton at 3pm on April 8.
