Two months and 8,000 bricks, according to Lego fan Darren Hutchesson.
The Bendigo Area Lego Designers member has put the finishing touches on his town hall model – which includes a miniature deputy mayor Rod Fyffe – ahead of a weekend showcase of the Lego community’s building prowess.
Mr Hutchesson used only photographs to inform his sculpture.
It’s not the first Bendigo-inspired build for the local man; he has previously crafted a miniature model of the Bendigo tram depot, part of which will be displayed from Saturday alongside the likeness of the Central Deborah gold mine.
His Lego fandom was already four decades long and it was the creative possibilities of the product that first inspired his fascination.
“What I liked the most was every time I opened the box, I could make what was on the box and anything else that came into my imagination.”
Bendigo Bricks runs in the Girton gym from 10am on Saturday to 4pm on Sunday.
Proceeds go towards the First Bendigo Scout Group.
