Train station’s ‘fortress’ is a white elephant
As a resident of Kangaroo Flat, I am very disappointed at the outlandish expense of the “fortress” at the station, just to house pushbikes.

I have so far seen only one bike grace it's interior. A disgusting waste of money by our Labor government. Jacinta Allan would have had a say in it's construction.
Also, residents have been trying for some time, since the station was refurbished, to have extra parking allocated for patrons' vehicles. We now have to park on vacant land next to the station.
I wonder if it is legal? No proper bays of security lighting at night.

Are we getting value for money for track?
Whilst the recent opening of the bike/walk track from Castlemaine to Maldon is a great achievement, many of the community are questioning the amount allocated for this project.
One-million dollars is an extraordinary amount for a track that already existed and, yes, needed some tweaking.
When can the public see the audited accounts for this project?

Region’s trains system is off the rails
Trains on the Bendigo-Echuca line have been cancelled since March 24.
There is no publicly available date for their resumption.
Minister for Public Transport and Member for Bendgo East Jacinta Allan should be bringing them back forthwith.
V/Line can engage, directly or indirectly, qualified rail safety personnel to man the defective level crossing.
The nine weekly V/Line Bendigio to Rochester and Echuca trains and, if required, the rice train to and from Deniliquin can then pass through the level crossing at reduced speed.
Temporary speed restrictions are a longstanding feature of rail networks and allow trains to keep operating.
As one Maldon resident recently said to me, V/Line is in chaos under government ownership, which really means control by the militant Rail, Tram and Bus Union.
V/Line does everything possible to pay for replacement road coaches at huge expense to Victorian taxpayers when there are problems with rail lines.
It is about time that Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan directed V/Line to supply pilotmen with the supervision of the office of the National Rail Safety Regulator and its agent, Transport Safety Victoria, so that Echuca trains can resume.
One local family found V/Line's trains so frequently delayed or cancelled on the Bendigo line that they moved to Pakenham.
Under Labor, Victoria is off the rails.

Ratepayers’ money spent on poker machine venues
When The Wellington at Botanical Gardens in White Hills opened under the new management we, as members of Bendigo Stadium, were advised that this was going to be a family hotel without any pokies.
My, what a difference a few months make. Now they want pokies in the venue.
It would be interesting to know how much of ratepayers’ money the City of Greater Bendigo has invested in Bendigo Stadium Limited and the venues it owns.

Change in sponsorship long overdue
Great to see the brewer has abandoned cricket sponsorship.
Now for that greasy chicken mob.
